QuotesAs we descended, the cabin was blanketed in silence except for one baby’s
muted cry that seemed to float in the air with us. Suddenly, I felt peace drift
over me. From the serenity came a young woman’s voice. “Are we having
an emergency?” she asked. (Chapter 6)

Sample Chapter Format:
I’ve always had a penchant for “dime” stores. Think Woolworth’s. I believe it was all the little bargains I could buy for next to nothing growing up that held my interest throughout the years. I could get 45s—records containing two songs—for less than $1 each in the early 1970s. Allowance went a long way then. And I had to have every Partridge Family and Donnie Osmond hit during my tween years. Dime stores always seemed to smell of grape and orange soda (my favorites), grilled hotdogs and pizza. Shopping could make a girl hungry, so Mom and I would sometimes dine at the dime store lunch counter. It was cafeteria-like food that was reminiscent of a soda fountain or a mini-diner, just what we needed: a quick hit of carbs to set us up to finish another afternoon of marathon mall shopping.
Lesson Learned: Treat yourself – family fun doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated.
Mom’s Chili Dogs
Stack a hot dog on a bun covered with mustard; top with diced onions, your favorite chili & cole slaw.
