Dear Beloved Women of God,
While seeking a respite at my parents’ farm in the North Carolina mountains recently, I picked up a magazine entitled, North Carolina Farm Bureau. My heart was warmed as I read the cover story in which a local Christmas tree farm was chosen to supply the White House with this year’s Christmas trees, 26 in all, the highest award in Christmas tree farming.
A co-owner of the farm said, “I started off with nothing . . . I couldn’t even afford to pay attention. I had to borrow money to get started, and if I made any profit at all, it always went back into the trees.”
