God's Promises
Week of February 27, 2011

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.”  ~ Hebrews 10:36

God’s timing is perfect, and His love is patient.  Many of His promises are conditional on our obedience, our faithfulness, which is rooted in the condition of our heart.

What has God promised you?  Has He delivered yet?  Are you still waiting?

2 Peter 3:8 says, “A day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”

For the past few years, I have prayed about a couple of areas of my life, asking God to intervene. Recently, the Lord spoke to me about one area, affirming that, because I love Him, He would do it for me. Concerning the second area, the Lord affirmed that He would bring forth what I asked because it was His sovereign will. Indeed, sometimes God puts a desire in our heart so that we can pray it into being.

In Psalm 119, we see that God gives us hope through His promises (vs. 49).  He preserves our lives through His promises (vs. 50).  He supplies us with grace according to His promises (vs. 58).  And we are to meditate on and rejoice in His promises (vs. 148, 162).

Do you trust God enough to believe Him at His word?  Are you praising Him through the journey?  Has your mind been on God or your circumstances?

Psalm 145:13 says, “The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.”  The fulfillment of God’s promises points toward Him as the one true God.

Obedience to His will – sometimes in longsuffering – is key.

Jeremiah 32:19 says, “great are Your purposes and mighty are Your deeds.  Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; You reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve.”

May we receive the fulfillment of God’s every promise.

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
