Thanksgivings

I live in Zimbabwe where inflation is over 8,000%, supermarket shelves are empty, gasoline is hard to come by, and you celebrate when you receive power and running water in your home for 24 hours non-stop! In this kind of environment, it is easy to become despondent, complacent and so negative that one can automatically complain about everything.  I am thankful that I have a roof over my head, a job, fuel in my car, 3 meals a day all supplied by a God who loves me!  I have learned to look beyond my circumstances to notice rainbows, sunsets and to share smiles with family and friends; none of which I could do in my own power. So I am grateful to God for the work of His hand in my life!  ~ Nyasha

I am grateful to God for the many gifts that He has blessed me with--too numerous to mention --Amen!  In this case, I cannot afford to just keep quiet and not tell the world of the goodness of my God.  I am a single mother of three daughters, two teenagers and one 10-year-old.  Besides my children, I also live with my late sister's twins--teenage girls, my old ailing dad and a cousin in her early 30's.   I have a brother who is terminally ill and needs drugs to keep him going.  On my small salary, I have managed to take my daughters to school, (the first two are now in college; my nieces are also in college), put three meals on the table every day, pay the bills and meet everybody's medical needs.  I am a tither.  How I manage all this is awesome! Sometimes I pinch myself when the end of the next month comes to a close!  Really, I serve an awesome God, and I am and will be forever thankful to HIM...Amen.  ~ Jeanne, Zambia, Central Africa

I am thankful and grateful to the Lord for the job that I have.  I know there are a lot of jobless people with better qualifications but God showed His favor on me, and I am truly thankful.  I am also thankful for the food that I have in my home.  There are so many people out there who have no idea where the next meal will come from, but I have enough food for my whole family.
  ~ Melenia

I am clearly thankful and appreciative for the little things in my life.  It puts the bigger things in perspective.  ~

First of all, I’m thankful that God sent his only son to die that we may have life, and have it in abundance. I’m thankful for all H
is countless blessings that He has given unto me and my family. He has taken me through so many anxieties and trials that I know if it hadn’t been for Him, I would not be here. My husband is going through a test with his memory, but we are still claiming the victory in Jesus!  PRAISE GOD!  ~ Mary

I am so thankful because God looked beyond my faults and saw my needs. He knew that I needed a greater Love to live in this life and to have life eternally.

I am thankful that every time I think my life is full of trials, I realize how fortunate I am.  I live in a free country and can give praise to God at any time or  place that I choose. I have a wonderful husband who loves and supports me, and I have two wonderful sons who are healthy, smart and know the love of God. No matter how hard and difficult the place I am in my life, if I stop and give it to Jesus I know He will help me bear it, no matter how difficult, if I only give it to Him.  A friend emailed me your thanksgiving devotional for the week of the 18th, and I am thankful for her knowing that these were the words I needed to hear to get me through this week and to turn my thoughts around to a thankful heart. I am thankful and give praise to the Lord of New Beginnings!

I thank God for the life he has given to me and my family.  Thank God for the safe delivery of my nephew Joshua last Thursday and thank God for the quick recovery of Joshua's mother who became very ill few days after his birth. I thank God for watching over my entire family.  ~ Caroline

Wow, what a pleasure to give thanks to my Lord and Savior who saved me out of a pit of destruction and death. He set my feet on the shore of forgiveness and wrapped His arms around me and said, "Welcome home my child, I have been waiting for you!"  No matter where I have been in this life He has reached out and helped me through it.  Whether in the death of my earthly daddy or the search for money to pay my monthly debts, He has been here. The one who laid His life down for me so I can be with Him in paradise, Oh how I love and give Him praise and glory today and everyday. How can I even began to express how thankful I am for all He is and has done in my life. I did not choose Him, He chose me. Thank you, Father, for choosing me.  ~ Gail

I was just laid off from my job and am 3 months behind on my house payment.  My husband of 30 years is on probation for meth and has spent time in jail.  I am thankful for Gods love and grace He has seen me through all of this heartache and made me stronger in my faith and walk.  I know there is a better plan for me and my husband.  We are becoming closer than we have been in years past.  ~ Terri

I am thankful that my whole family (my husband, myself and my two daughters) are now all in the fold of our Lord Jesus Christ.  ~ Jennifer

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
