Marci Malzahn


 Marcia "Marci" Malzahn

Marcia "Marci" Malzahn is the author of Devotions for Working Women: A Daily Inspiration to Live a Successful and Balanced Life.

Marcia was born in Nicaragua, Central America, and she is the second of six children. In 1979 she had to leave her country with her family due to the revolution that took place to overthrow the Somoza dictatorship. Her family moved to the Dominican Republic and lived there for seven years and then moved to the United States in 1986.

When Marcia moved to Minnesota in 1986, she started her career in banking with Marquette Banks that continued for the next thirteen years. Her work experience includes six years in cash management, six years in private banking, and one and one half years in retail banking. Her last position was Branch Manager of Marquette Capital Bank downtown Minneapolis. In 1995, Marquette Bank was the first bank to offer online banking in the Twin Cities and Marcia became the first Online Banking Specialist.

In 1999, she moved to the Information Technology field and started working for Living Work Christian Center (LWCC), an non-profit 501(c)3 organization. At LWCC, she held the positions of Y2K Project Manager, Director of IT, and the last three and one half years as Associate in charge of Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology reporting directly to the Senior Pastor. She also held the Board position of Corporate Assistant Secretary and managed a budget of $31.5MM and 28 employees.

In January 2005, Marcia moved back to the banking field and is now the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President Operations of Tradition Capital Bank in Edina, Minnesota. Marcia is in charge of Finance, HR, IT and Operations. Marcia is also the Corporate Secretary of the bank’s Board. She holds an Associate of Arts degree from North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Marcia is a member of Financial Women International and is the current President of the Twin Cities Metro Group Board. She has been a member for 13 years and has held several other positions including President of the local group in 1996.

Marcia was the recipient of the first annual '25 On The Rise' award given by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in December, 2005. This leadership award is given to successful Minnesota Hispanics under the age of 40, regardless of occupation or industry. Marcia also received the 'Forty Under 40' award in May, 2006 given by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal to forty business leaders in the Twin Cities under the age of 40.

Marcia met her husband Tim in 1986 and they married in 1988. They have two children: Nicole and Patrick and live in Minnesota. Marcia enjoys watching her kids’ basketball games, walking, jogging, singing, writing and public speaking.
